JASNA Regional Events

JASNA Regions host creative special events that all members of the Society are invited to attend. In many cases, non-members who would like to know more about JASNA are also welcome. (For information on Regional book discussions and other regular meetings, visit a Region's website or contact the Regional Coordinator.)

Jane Austen's NORTHANGER ABBEY Presented by Pear Theatre

Pear Theatre's 2018-19 season opens with “Northanger Abbey,” adapted by Pear founder Diane Tasca from the novel by Jane Austen. In classic Austen style, Northanger Abbey follows several young ladies and gentlemen as they negotiate romances, friendships, betrothals, betrayals, and the general realization that life is not like an 18th-century Gothic novel.

Society in Jane Austen's World: England's Regency Period

Road Scholar, the lifelong learning organization formerly known as Elderhostel, will offer a 6-day "learning adventure" in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, focusing on the world of Jane Austen — both the world of her novels and the Regency period in which she lived. Participants will discuss themes of gender, social hierarchy, courtship and gossip, and will "partake in a variety of activities suitable for well-off ladies and gentlemen, from writing with a quill pen to lawn games, archery and table play readings."
