Hand Embroidery Techniques

In the Quiet Hours2During this two-hour hands-on workshop created for and given by Sarah Roberts of In The Quiet Hours, we will explore a brief history of the term “whitework” and learn basic hand embroidery stitches to begin work on a handkerchief. We will also discuss some basic principles of hand embroidery techniques and tools. Participants will be provided with a simple kit that includes a white handkerchief, white coton a broder thread, needle, 4-inch wooden embroidery hoop, and access to resources on hand embroidery and whitework in particular. Please bring a pair of thread scissors if you have one. Refreshments will be served. The workshop is $20 for members, $25 for future members, and space is limited.

The meeting will be held in a member’s home in the Serenbe Community, Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia. Please RSVP to kmz@jasnaatlanta.org, and the address will be sent to you.
