Atlanta Region: Box Hill Excursion
Catherine Morland will be envious when we tour romantic ruins, a museum, and gardens—all within the Barnsley Resort. The manor house ruins, called Woodlands, are the remnants of the original 19th-century Italianate villa built by Godfrey Barnsley for his wife Julia. A classic boxwood parterre garden leading up to the once-grand manor home greets guests. The Barnsley Museum, located within the original kitchen wing, features an extensive display of Barnsley Family belongings, along with a display of Civil War-era artifacts.
After exploring, we will walk to the Beer Garden and eat together at the picnic tables. You can get your lunch at the BBQ restaurant there or bring your own. After lunch, stay and wander at your leisure.
