Eastern Pennsylvania Region: Jane Austen Days, Day One (Virtual)
Biennial Treat Returns!
Last spring this amazing event had to be postponed. But this year the Eastern Pennsylvania Region and its event co-sponsor, the Free Library of Philadelphia, will host not one, but two days of presentations by top scholars.
The theme is "Jane Austen in the Modern Age," and Day One will boast two fascinating and fun topics. First, member and author Deborah Yaffee will present "Which Jane Austen? Fans, Fandom, and Fanfiction in the Age of Austen Appreciation." Then, Drs. Emily C. Friedman and Emily M. N. Kugler will guide us through the world of Austen-inspired indie video games, with special attention to the ways in which these games anticipate the challenges faced by big-budget film and TV adaptations (such as Bridgerton).
For much more information, and to register for Day One, please visit the Region's website. The event is free and open to all, but donations to help with tech costs are most appreciated. Please also note that the hours shown are Eastern Time.
