New York Capital Region: A Fine House, Richly Furnished
A Look at Pemberley’s Owner
Kristen Miller Zohn, JASNA Visiting Lecturer, will present a virtual tour of Pemberley that illustrates the decorative styles and functions of rooms mentioned in Pride and Prejudice, as well as others that would have been on the tour provided to Elizabeth Bennett. These images are discussed in relation to how the rooms and furnishings reveal Darcy’s true character and foreshadow his relationship with Elizabeth.
Miller Zohn is the Curator of Collections and Exhibitions for the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art in Laurel, Mississippi, with a collection that includes European and American art and British Georgian silver. She has published articles about Jane Austen and the visual arts in JASNA publications, and is a frequent lecturer on portraiture and decorative arts of the nineteenth century.
This program is open to the public and is funded in part by a grant from the Jane Austen Society of North America.
