Jane Austen’s Birthday Tea
January 5, 2013
Please join us at the Grangeville Rose Tea Room, 322 W. MacArthur Blvd., Shawnee, OK, on Saturday, January 5th at 4:00 PM as we celebrate the birthday of the illustrious Miss Jane Austen in the best British way possible. In honor of our esteemed authoress, we shall put out the tea things and enjoy a traditional English High Tea. Savories, pastries and scones with jam and Devonshire cream will be served, as well as a proper cup of tea. As always, period dress admired, but not required.
In addition to tea, we will have a presentation by Regency romance author Amanda McCabe. Amanda wrote her first romance at the age of sixteen—a vast historical epic starring all her friends as the characters, written secretly during algebra class (and her parents wondered why math was not her strongest subject…) She’s never since used algebra, but her books have been nominated for many awards, including the RITA Award, the Romantic Times BOOK Reviews Reviewers’ Choice Award, the Booksellers Best, the National Readers Choice Award, and the Holt Medallion.&bnsp; She lives in Oklahoma with a menagerie of two cats, a Pug, and a very bossy miniature Poodle, along with far too many books.
When not writing or reading, she loves taking dance classes, collecting cheesy travel souvenirs, and watching the Food Network—even though she doesn’t cook. Amanda also writes as Laurel McKee for Grand Central Publishing.
The cost of the event is $20 per person. To reserve a place, contact Hollie Gehrman at firstname.lastname@example.org email@example.com.
