Jane Austen Ball
May 4, 2008

JASNA’s Rochester Region and the Country Dancers of Rochester hosted the second annual Jane Austen Ball on Sunday, May 4, at the Memorial Art Gallery.

JASNA-Rochester subsidized student tickets to the ball, and the Country Dancers of Rochester made the event fun even for non-dancers by offering half-price tickets for “observers.” Those who preferred not to dance were able to sit on the stage above the ballroom, watch the dancers, listen to the live music by Firefly, and enjoy a delicious tea during the break. Joanna Reiner, Philadelphia English Country Dance caller, provided instruction in the morning and gracious leadership during the afternoon ball. Many JASNA members attended and have found a new interest in the dances of the Regency period.
