September 14, 2008

Regency Costume

The fall meeting of the North Texas Region will be held on Sunday, September 14, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hackberry Creek Country Club. Speaker Baronda Bradley will reprise her Romance Writers of America presentation on Regency clothing and accessories, bringing her own Regency wardrobe to help “illustrate” the talk. Ms. Bradley uses extensive research in the acquisition and tailoring of her period dress, and several of her fabrics and accessories are from the Regency period. Her lecture will include a discussion of which articles of clothing were appropriate for specific times of day and activities.

Following a refreshment break, author Carol Adams will discuss her new book “The Bedside, Bathtub, and Armchair Companion to Jane Austen.” Carol will also be available to sign copies of her book, and there will be a limited number for sale at the meeting. If you wish to reserve a copy, please do so with your meeting reservation.

The cost of the event is $10 per person, including refreshments, and advance reservations are required by September 10. JASNA members, their guests, and those with an interest in Jane Austen are welcome. Hackberry Creek Country Club is located at 1901 Royal Lane in Irving, Texas.
