The 2015 JASNA-sponsored tour, “Jane Austen: Town and Country,” visited houses, towns and cities that shaped Jane Austen’s life and fiction, including Steventon, Chawton, Bath, Portsmouth, Lyme Regis, and Winchester. Members travelled to Oxford to St. John’s College, where Reverend George Austen and two of his sons studied. Tour participants then went to the county of Kent to visit Austen family sites, including Sevenoaks and the Red House, Goodenstone House, and Godmersham. The last day of the tour included the Regency resort of Brighton and the Prince Regent’s exotic Royal Pavilion.
