Eastern Washington/Northern Idaho Region: Botany and Spring Tea (Virtual)
Women Botanists in Georgian England
Priscilla Wakefield (1751-1832) was an English author, educator, and activist whose work included books on botany and entomology. Like Jane Austen, she was a working woman whose writing not only entertained and educated, but also provided her with economic security. In this virtual Zoom presentation, member Cecily Van Cleave will discuss Wakefield as well as other women involved in botany during the period, including Queen Charlotte, Jane Marcet, and Elizabeth Kent.
As a special treat, attendees may purchase a tea packet to be enjoyed during the program or given as a gift; details are available at registration.
