Living With Care in Persuasion
Join the New York Metropolitan Region for a special two-part event in October, "Living With Care in Persuasion / The Pen in Their Hands.”
Part I will be a talk by Dr. Talia Schaffer of Queens College and the CUNY Graduate Center. She will share her reading of Persuasion through the lens of the ethics of caregiving as discussed in her book, The Communities of Care: The Social Ethics of Victorian Fiction. Part II will be a panel discussion featuring three adaptors of Persuasion, who have used different media to express their vision: filmmaker Zoe Hodge, novelist Noreen Mughees, and playwright Sarah Rose Kearns. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Sayantani DasGupta, professor of narrative medicine at Columbia University.
The cost to attend is $35. For more information about the program and our speakers, or to register, visit the region's website.
