The Charleston Gambit

At the South Carolina Region's upcoming meeting, Stuart Bennett will discuss his novel The Charleston Gambit, a romance centered on Lord Rawdon and a fictional young Charlestonian. Francis Rawdon-Hastings, successively Lord Rawdon, Earl of Moira, and Marquess of Hastings, was blamed by Jane Austen's brother, Henry, for the failure of his bank in 1816. Lord Rawdon's distinguished military career began during the American Revolution.
