Literary Competition for Undergraduates

The winners of the First Annual JASNA Literary Competition on the topic, “Discuss what can be learned from the dialogues between Emma and Harriet in the novel Emma” were announced at the AGM in Chicago in October.

The Literary Competition Committee, consisting of Gene Koppel, Edith Lank, Catherine Lynch, and Mary Gaither Marshall (Chairman), chose the following winners: Nancy Hall, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, a third year student at DeKalb Community College, the $750 first prize; Vivian Axiotis of Warren, Ohio (junior at Youngstown State University), Mary Blackler of Fallbrook, California (senior at Linfield College), and Susan J. Levy of Edwardsville, Illinois (senior at Southern Illinois University) the $250 runners-up prizes; Melinda Pfeiffer, senior at North Carolina State University, an honourable mention.  (Class years reflect the student’s standing last March.)
