JASNA Regional Groups

My idea of good company is the company of clever, well-informed people, who have a great deal of conversation.

The Jane Austen Society of North America has over 70 regional groups across the United States and Canada.  JASNA members are invited to join any of the regions and participate in local activities.

Members at a local JASNA meeting may discuss an Austen novel, hear a lecture about Austen or the Regency era, or enjoy a tea or Box Hill picnic.  JASNA regions celebrate Jane Austen’s birthday, December 16, with a luncheon, tea, or speaker.  Other activities may include museum and garden tours, English country dancing, and Regency fashion shows.  Regions often host special events, such as scholarly conferences and galas, some of which are open to the public.  Many regions have their own newsletters and web sites.  Regions also create and sell unique Austen-related merchandise.

The pages for “United States” and “Canada” list all regions.  If you are interested in forming a JASNA region in an area where none exists, please contact the Vice President-Regions, Liz Philosophos Cooper, liz.p.cooper@gmail.com.  To update contact information for an existing region, send changes to webmaster@jasna.org.

Participants in local regions must be members of JASNA.  Please visit the membership page to learn more about the benefits of joining JASNA.
