JASNA Regional Events

JASNA Regions host creative special events that all members of the Society are invited to attend. In many cases, non-members who would like to know more about JASNA are also welcome. (For information on Regional book discussions and other regular meetings, visit a Region's website or contact the Regional Coordinator.)

Non-JASNA Events

The events listed below are a small selection of upcoming events that may be of interest to Janeites. These events are not organized by JASNA or its Regions. 


 

"The Life and Times of Lizzie Bennet"

The Special Collections Library of the University of Michigan presents a bicentennial exhibit titled “The Life and Times of Lizzy Bennet.” The exhibit, which continues until March 30, 2018, displays early editions of Jane Austen's novels and other historical books, writings and illustrations that influenced Austen and her world. There are many events planned throughout the city in association with this exhibit.

Pride and Prejudice Ballet

The American Repertory Ballet presents Douglas Martin’s full-length ballet, Pride and Prejudice, which debuted in April of 2017. The ballet is supported by the wonderfully melodic music of Ignaz Pleyel, the Austrian-born French composer, with costumes tailored to showcase the fashions of the English Regency period from 1790–1820.

Jane Austen's last and most romantic novel, "Persuasion" first appeared in print in 1818. Join us as we mark its publication bicentenary with a stimulating literary-theatrical evening featuring a benefit performance of Persuasion, as adapted for the stage by Sarah Rose Kearns. Afterwards, Austen scholar Juliette Wells will join the director and playwright for a short conversation.
