Welcome to Cleveland

The Ohio North Coast Region is thrilled to invite JASNA members to an unforgettable conference on the shores of Lake Erie. We will gather to explore the world of ideas in which Jane Austen’s genius was steeped, and discover the revolutionary world that inspired Austen to lead her own revolution through her chosen art form—the novel.

Austen, Annotated: Jane Austen’s Literary, Political, and Cultural Origins

The Ohio North Coast Region is proud to host an AGM on this important topic at this exciting time in the study of Jane Austen, at a time when much new scholarship is coming to the fore and old ideas are being reevaluated. Our Region has long had a connection to the places Austen knew in her early years, including St. Nicholas Church, Steventon, where we donated funds for the new baptismal font carved by a local Hampshire artist and helped fund the project to build a screen for the fireplace alcove in the church nave that holds Austen relics. You may have seen JASNA Ohio North Coast recognized on plaques in the church when you visited there.

We can't wait for you to join us in Cleveland, the vibrant city at the heart of our Region.

‘I do not write for such dull Elves As have not a great deal of Ingenuity themselves.'
- Jane Austen, in an 1813 letter to her sister Cassandra
