2026 JASNA AGM

2026 AGM Logo: a line sketch of the Bath Assembly Rooms sitting on an open book

 Welcome

October 29-November 1, 2026

Join fellow JASNA members in Tucson, Arizona, in 2026 to explore Jane Austen's "Bath novels": Northanger Abbey and Persuasion

The 2026 AGM logo depicts the Bath Assembly Rooms, designed by John Wood in 1769. The building was used for dancing and concerts and had special rooms for tea and for card-playing. Jane Austen would have known it well, and we can envision the characters in Northanger Abbey and Persuasion attending entertainments there. The colors of the Sonoran desert provide the background, reflecting the ever-changing nature of the landscape of the Tucson area, where we will gather for JASNA’s 47th annual meeting.

Enthusiastic volunteers from across JASNA are collaborating to plan an AGM that will fascinate Janeites and offer experiences catering to many tastes. Tucson offers a wealth of options for those who incline toward adventure and excitement, and our own “Assembly Rooms” will be the hub of comfort and good company. In addition to a roster of top speakers, the conference program will include new opportunities for attendees to share their knowledge and perspectives, from an Open Mic night to a showing of Austen-themed works of art and craft projects.

Logos of Unesco and Tucson: City of GastronomyYear after year, Tucson receives accolades based on its appeal as a tourist destination. Both the BBC and Frommer’s chose Tucson as one of the top travel picks for 2025. Outside Magazine praised the region’s star-filled skies and excellent hiking trails, and the Good Housekeeping Family Travel Awards recognized its appeal for visitors of all ages. Tucson’s unique culinary heritage, melding Mexican and Native American traditions over thousands of years, led to Tucson receiving the first City of Gastronomy designation in the country from the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

With all of these attractions, why not plan to bring the family, or stay an extra day or two to take it all in?

JASNA recognizes and respects that Tucson resides on the land and territories of Indigenous peoples. Arizona is home to 22 federally recognized tribes. The Tohono Oʼodham, direct descendants of the Hohokam and earlier peoples, and the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, descendants of the Yaqui people from Sonora, Mexico, both inhabit the Tucson area today.
