Experience Place header

Join the Eastern Washington/Northern Idaho Region for a group discussion of "The Austen Heroine's Experience of Place." The event will focus on how Austen's heroines respond to place—both houses and landscapes. In Northanger Abbey, Pride and Prejudice, and Emma, we will discuss the heroines' exploration of their future marital homes. We will also discuss how the heroines' loss of home in Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park, and Persuasion affects how they respond to nature and cope with distress.

The event is free and open to the public. The registration link below includes the chapters to be explored in each novel as well as discussion questions.
