Massachusetts Region: A New Jane Austen (IN PERSON AND VIRTUAL)

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
A New Jane Austen
Join the Massachusetts Region for a talk by Juliette Wells on "A New Jane Austen: How Americans Brought Us the World's Greatest Novelist."
Wells is professor of literary studies at Goucher College and the author of three histories of Austen's readers and fans. Her talk will highlight her new discoveries about the forgotten and overlooked Americans who, from the 1880s to the 1980s, helped readers appreciate Austen's novels, persuasively advocated for her place in the literary canon, and preserved artifacts vital to her legacy. She will also offer a sneak preview of the Morgan Library & Museum's "A Lively Mind: Jane Austen at 250" exhibition, which will run from June 6 to September 14, and for which she served as guest co-curator.
Cost to attend is $10 for JASNA members and $15 for nonmembers.
