Imagining the Austens
Join the Massachusetts Region for a talk by Sarah Emsley on her debut novel, The Austens. The novel imagines Jane Austen and her sister-in-law Fanny developing a friendship through letters exchanged across the Atlantic during the Napoleonic Wars—a friendship that changes when the two eventually meet in England. In this illustrated talk, Emsley will offer a tour of some of the places that were familiar to Fanny and her family in England and Bermuda as well as Nova Scotia, and she’ll talk about her experience of exploring the lives of the Austen family and bringing their stories to life through historical fiction.
The event is open to the public. Cost is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers.
