Oregon-SW Washington Region: Dual Jane
Nov 16
12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Dual Jane
Join the Oregon-Southwest Washington Region for "Dual Jane: Celebrating Jane Austen at 250 and ORSWWA at 40!" We'll host a combined celebration of
Austen's 250th birthday and our region's 40th anniversary.
Region co-founder Mary Margaret Benson will share a brief history of JASNA and the region's founding. Co-founder Frank McClanahan will serve as master of ceremonies and provide a 40-year look back at our region, including reminiscences from members and memorable events, such as hosting the 2010 AGM. Afterward, Arnie Perlstein will lead an interactive presentation on Austen scholarship. Harp music will be played by AnnaLee Driscoll.
The event is being funded by a generous donor, with free registration to all. Nonmembers of the region can request to attend by emailing the region with the subject line "birthday celebration."
The afternoon will include a buffet potluck meal with birthday cake and a toast to Austen and our region. Bring a treat—savory, sweet or both—for the tea table. Hot tea, bottled water, and cranberry punch will be provided. Regency-themed costumes are encouraged but not required.
