Nikki Payne: Contemporary Adaptations of Jane Austen

Join the Virtual Region for a talk by author Nikki Payne on "Contemporary Adaptations of Jane Austen." Payne holds a PhD in cultural anthropology from Rice University. By day, she’s a curious tech anthropologist. By night, she dreams of ways to subvert canon literature. Inspired by Jane Austen, her fresh romances turn expectations on their head and deliver sharp social commentary for the hopeless romantic. Featured in People Magazine, BuzzFeed books, Oprah daily, and Elle magazine, her debut novel Pride and Protest was a Phenomenal Book Club pick and has been hailed as “incandescent” by The Washington Post. She followed that up with Sex, Lies, and Sensibility.

At the conclusion of her talk, two free drawings will be held: one for an autographed copy of Pride and Protest and one for Sex, Lies, and Sensibility. To be eligible for the drawings, you must be a member of JASNA Virtual Region and must be present to win.

Those who are members of JASNA but not members of the Virtual Region may request to receive notification the Zoom link by emailing jasnavirtualregion@gmail.com.
