Simon King: Novel Magazine Company

Join the Virtual Region for a presentation by Simon J. King, founder of The Novel Magazine Company and the creator of Pride and Prejudice Novel Magazine, who will join us from the United Kingdom. He first discovered Pride and Prejudice in early adulthood and has returned to it so often that it has become a lasting part of his imaginative life. Over the last two years, that admiration grew into an original publishing project that reimagines Austen’s novel through the lens of magazine culture, fashion editorial, historical research, and modern image-making, while keeping Austen’s original text sacrosanct.
With a background in fashion, art, and creative technology, King has long been interested in how stories can be presented in new ways. His work on Pride and Prejudice Novel Magazine has also led to a number of Austen and Regency-related side projects using new technology platforms, all driven by deep affection for the novel and a belief that classic works, when opened up to new ideas, can inspire myriad creative possibilities. His work is Austen Meets AI, and he will speak to how the unique use of technology to express Austen in the age of AI.
King has donated a coffee table edition of the three volumes into a bound book to give away at the conclusion of his presentation. To be eligible for the drawing, you must be a member of JASNA Virtual Region and must be present to win.
