Patricia A. Matthew (email: matthewp@montclair.edu) is associate professor of English at Montclair State University, specializing in British Romanticism, the history of the novel, abolitionist literature, and women’s writing, and is the director of the Race and Regency Lab. She has published for both academic and general audiences and is writing a book about sugar, gender, and British abolitionist culture. She is also editing Mansfield Park for the Norton Library Series and co-edits the Oxford UP series Race in Nineteenth-Century Literature and Culture.
